Sem / Lab / PG / Thesis - State of Open Science
The goal of this project is to create a thorough overview over the current state of Open Science (OS) adoption across the Usable Security and Privacy field. We have multiple open research questions on this:
- What is the impact of using Open Science in papers? Do they get more citations, do they get replicated more often, how does the review process change (do the reviewers notice?) Your task is to do comprehensive literature review of OS papers in comparison to non-OS papers for a seminar, and for a lab / PG / thesis, additionally conduct interviews with Program Chairs of conferences like CHI and SOUPS on their opinion of OS, and how they think OS influences the review process.
- What is the current adoption? How many papers in recent years published all data (FAIR principles), artifacts, hardware specifications, concrete versions used of all third party libraries, and are open access? Your task is to do comprehensive literature review of OS papers. (seminar)
- What are barriers to adoption of open science? Your task is to conduct interviews with researchers in the SOUPS community, at Uni Bonn, and the OS community regarding the barriers they perceive exist and prevent people from using OS practices.
