Seminar - Unbased Truths in SOUPS papers
This seminar project systematically reviews recent Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS) papers to identify claims presented as “common sense” but lacking explicit empirical evidence. The goal is to categorize such statements, measure their prevalence, and critically assess their validity. This was already done for the SOUPS2025 conference, and now the goal is to repeat the methodology with earlier conferences to create a thorough overview over time.
Example: “Users rarely read privacy policies” — a claim often repeated without direct empirical support.
